FANS1/A  Trials

FANS 1/A ADS Waypoint Position Reporting 

Following successful operational trials, ADS Waypoint Reporting is now operational within NAT ADS Airspace. NAT ADS airspace includes the Bodø, Gander, New York, Reykjavik, Santa Maria and Shanwick Oceanic Control Areas.

FANS1/A CPDLC Operational Trials  

These commenced in Gander and Shanwick airspace during the  autumn of  2002. Reykjavik commenced trials in the first quarter of 2005 and Santa Maria in the third quarter of 2006. New York currently provide a full CPDLC Service. Gander, Reykjavik, Santa Maria and Shanwick plan to provide a full CPDLC service in the fourth quarter of 2007. 

FMC WPR Operational Trials 

Following successful operational trials FMC waypoint reporting is now operational in  Bodø, Gander, Reykjavik, Santa Maria and Shanwick Oceanic Control Areas   This is not a FANS application but is similar to ADS in its practical application. 

 

Operators wishing to use ATS datalinks in the North Atlantic should consult the Guidance Material for ATS Datalink Services documents listed below.
