Reference:
The OPS/AIR Sub-Group
will report to the SARSIG and will serve as a forum for State
and aviation industry specialists to harmonise policy on
airworthiness and operations issues related to separation
standards. Specifically it is responsible for the following:
1.
to develop and harmonise guidance related to
implementation of Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM):
a)
develop a harmonised Minimum Aircraft System
Performance Specification (MASPS) containing airworthiness,
maintenance and operations programmes necessary for aircraft
and operators to receive RVSM approval;
b)
co-ordinate on issues which may arise in the
application of the MASPS's;
2.
in co-ordination with the Mathematicians Implementation
Group (MIG) and the Air Traffic Management Group (ATMG), study
the influence of improved navigational performance on lateral
overlap probability;
3.
to initiate necessary action to amend aeronautical
charts to reflect navigational requirements related to
separation standards (e.g. RVSM, Required Navigation
Performance (RNP));
4.
to study operational issues related to the future role
of Airborne Collision
Avoidance System (ACAS);
5.
to harmonise operational and airworthiness policy for
Automatic Dependent Surveillance (ADS), Controller
Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and other data
link initiatives;
6.
to co-ordinate with the ATMG and the FIG in the
development of operational issues;
7.
to study the operational issues related to the
implementation of RNP in the NAT;
8.
to study other operational issues as directed by the
SARSIG.
Composition:
The OPS/AIR Sub-Group is composed of representatives
from Canada, France, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, the United
Kingdom, the United States, Eurocontrol, IATA, IFALPA and
manufacturers.
